While there have been ways for us to be able to get rid of its duplicated stuff manually in all cases of duplication in Microsoft Outlook (a.k.a. listing them down and deleting them), there are actually ways of preventing further duplications from happening in your mailbox, which is where most of the activity usually lies.

This isn’t really a process, but rather a couple of things you want to check out and tweak if needed to get the desired effect:

1.Check the “Rules” menu and make sure that copies of your mail are not made to your inbox.
2.Open the task manager and make sure that only one outlook.exe is running.
3.Some people tried deleting their email accounts and recreated them – it worked most of the time.
4.Get service pack 2 if you’re working with Windows XP.
5.Some anti-viruses like Norton actually cause the resending of outgoing mail after they scan them, so you can set the anti-virus not to scan outgoing mail if you want.

When OpenOffice.org came in to compete with Microsoft Office, there were some distinctions between the two that made people think twice before choosing either one. Here are some common concepts:

Is it free? OpenOffice.org is while Microsoft Office isn’t. This was a MAJOR consideration for those who really couldn’t afford licenses and updates. But of course, when there are hitches, you really can’t complain if you’re getting this stuff for free.

Quality Assurance. Microsoft is definitely backed up by a company, so the features, services and other matters regarding their products are always guaranteed to satisfy. OpenOffice.org has a free Source Code that can be freely adopted by other people, so when it comes to troubleshooting, their developers can only do so much to help.

Completeness. Clearly there are something that are exclusive to the Microsoft Office counterparts (i.e. animated text in MS Word), but some people consider them unnecessary and prefer the basics covered by OpenOffice.org.

Formats used. Microsoft has more rigid formatting so adaptability with other writers isn’t 100% guaranteed, but OpenOffice.org can be made to easily fit into other formats because of its source codes being free.

Generally the comparisons between the two are really based on OpenOffice.org being free and Microsoft charging a small fee. It’s really a matter of priorities to each user.

If you haven’t gotten accustomed to using MS Office yet, then you might be missing out a lot. Regardless of what version you are using (except for the really, really old ones, of course) MS Office has a lot of perks that you can make work for you.

MS Office is a suite, which means it’s a collection of applications that you will find useful for your computer. From simple document writing (MS Word) to lay-outing documents (MS Publisher), MS Office is most likely to have it. This collection includes a word processor, a spreadsheet application, powerpoint viewer, and more.

MS Office is easy to update, since Microsoft works with what they call “Service Packs”. These update packages make sure that you don’t miss out on the important updates for every single tool in your MS Office collection.

MS Office has an independent set of widgets, meaning their windows look differently from the native system. More importantly, you won’t have to worry about your MS Office applications looking funny or weird because you’re using the wrong version of an operating system.

All-in-all, MS Office remains to be one of the most reliable, if not the best of the desktop office suites in the industry.

Which would you choose: Google’s Google Docs or Microsoft’s Office Live Space? There’s really no hard and fast rule on this issue, but a short comparison of the features might help in case-to-case bases.

Storage Space. Office Live promises 500 MB of disk space. Google Docs, on the other hand, gives users a total of 5000 documents, presentations and images as well as 1000 spreadsheets. Whichever limit is more appealing depends on the user.

File Compatibles. Google Docs gives you HTML, .rtf, .doc, .txt, .odt, .ods, .csv, .xls, .tsv, .tsb, .ppt and .pps. As for Live Office, they let you have your way with lots of stuff including .pdf files and their kind.

Size Limits. Google Docs limits its file sizes with fixed numbers of bytes per file type. For example, documents can have as much as 500 K and 2 MB allotments for images. As for Office Live, regardless of file type, allows a max 25 MB limit.

Batch Uploads. While Google Docs originally allows upload one-by-one, additional applications can do batch drag and drop uploads. Live Office, however, allow batch uploads, but this feature is limited to Internet Explorer.

These are just some of the general features of the two applications being compared. You can find out more by checking them out yourself. But as to which one is better, it’s all up to every user’s priorities.
