Archiving the Intelligent Message Filter Spam Confidence Level rating in Exchange 2003
The IMF, or Microsoft Exchange Intelligent Message Filter, has been designed to assist in the reduction of spam. More information on this can be found at mycomputeraid.com.

The filter works by applying a Spam Confidence Level (SCL) to incoming mails. The SCL is the rating system that ranges from 10 down to -1 (for authenticated users), and is used to inform Outlook whether an email is to be sent to the Junk Email folder. Knowing what SCL has been applied to a mail can help when showing how effective the filter has been. To see the rating though, the IMF needs to be altered to allow the rating to be shown in old messages.

This can be done in Registry Editor, although make sure that a backup of the registry is made before any changes are made.

The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftExchangeContentFilter key needs to found or created. In the key a value of ArciveSCL needs to be created with a value of 1. Once done the SMTP needs to be restarted and the changes will have been completed.
