Spam filters for outlook
filters for outlook (can be used for spam filters or normal email archiving)
Email is often plagued by undesirable messages. Whether it’s spam, disgruntled employees, or any manner of other reasons, there will most likely come a time when you will want to filter out unwanted email from Outlook automatically, rather than have to even see the message in your inbox. The steps below will help you set up filters to accomplish, and hopefully make your email experience smoother nd happier in the bargain. The following steps assume that you have already started Outlook, and are looking at the main window. This example will filter according to the contents of the subject field, but should provide you with enough information to create other filters as well.
1. Click Tools >> Rules Wizard.
2. Click New.
3. Usually, the default of “Check messages when they arrive” is preferable.
4. Click Next.
5. Check the “with specific words in the subject.” box.
6. In the “Rule Description” area, select “Specific words”.
7. In the “Search Text” window, enter “free credit check” (as an example).
8. Click Add. “free credit check” should appear in the search text area.
9. Click OK.
10. Click Next.
11. Check the “Move it to the specified folder” box.
12. Select a folder from the list, or click New, and add a folder name.
13. If you created a new folder, click OK.
14. Click OK.
15. If all went well, you’ll see the new filter in the Rules Wizard pane.
16. Click Finish.
17. Click OK.
That completes creating a filter to filet messages with “free credit check” in the subject line. Anytime such a message arrives when Outlook is running, it will be automatically filtered to the folder you specified. If you get a message of that type when the client is not active, you will have to manually run the filter from the Rules Wizard.
