Windows 7 System Requirements

While Windows 7 did come later than Windows Vista, the system requirements for Win7 aren’t heavier. If anything, they were less because of the fact that any people complained about sluggish moments that Vista gave computer performance.

  • Processor: You need a 32-bit or 64-bit processor with 1 GHz
  • System Memory: Your system memory must have 1 GB
  • Hard Disk Space: 16 GB available
  • Display: The Aero theme uses DirectX 9 graphics and needs 128 MB memory
  • Drive: DVD-R/W Drive

As for updates, you will definitely need an internet connection.

It’s also important to note that Windows 7 takes up 295 MB Physical Memory as opposed to Vista’s 471 MB usage. That’s a big difference, right?

But still, never forget to make sure your computer can handle Windows 7 before you switch operating systems. Otherwise, you’ll only be experiencing problems. Certainly it will be easier for Windows 7, though, since Microsoft actually listened to user comments about Vista.
