Quickbook printer not showing
Quickbooks printer not showing problem
If you are trying to print reports or invoices from QuickBooks, and you are having a problem, there are a couple of things that could be causing the problem. One common situation is that the QuickBooks file that stores your printer configuration has been corrupted. If this happens, you’ll have to re-create it..
Here are the steps to take to delete and re-create the QBPRINT.QBP file:
1. Open My Computer.
2. Navigate to the following directory:
QuickBooks 2007:
Windows XP:
C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataIntuitQuickBooks 2007
Windows Vista:
C:ProgramDataIntuitQuickBooks 2007
For QuickBooks 2006 and earlier:
C:Program FilesIntuitQuickBooks [your version of Quickbooks i.e. 2007]
NOTE: Save yourself some time, and use the Windows Search. Just enter QBPRINT.QBP into the search box. It saves having to navigate through a number of folders.
3. Delete the QBPRINT.QBP file.
4. Open QuickBooks.
5. Click the File menu and select Printer Setup.
6. Click a transaction in the Form Name drop-down
7. Click OK.
A. This will re-create the QBPRINT.QBP file.
6. Try printing the transaction again. It should work.
Network Printer:
Network printers may not work for a couple of reasons; either the word “on” appears in the printer name being used, or the printer name is too long.
The problem with “on” being used only applies to older (pre-XP) operating systems, so is not as common as it once was. If this is the problem, you’ll need to edit the WIN.INI file, usually found in the C:Windowsfolder. Simply delete everything from “on” to the end of the line, and save the file.
If the printer name is more than 64 characters long do this:
1. Click START >> Settings >> Printers.
2. Right-click the printer, and select Rename.
A. The name length should be 64 characters or less.
