Windows XP: Major Fixes In Service Pack 3
Windows XP SP3 contains a number of important fixes. This article will mention a few of the important ones, and point the way to a longer list of fixes, as well as a download site where you may download SP3.
First on the list is an error that prevents moving files onto the CD drive of a computer that is running Windows XP with SP1, or Windows XP with SP2. Obviously, this is a a huge inconvenience, especially for tasks such as backups, and data storage. Another CD related fix is the one which shows up when your CD-RW drive is not recognized as such in Windows XP SP2.
Many people may have noticed that the logon process takes an long time to complete in Windows XP SP2. This has been repaired, as well as slower performance on multiple processor systems with processor power management installed.
And possibly one of the most important fixes for some people is for an installation error that caused the system to stop responding when it is restarted. While this didn’t happen on all systems, those of us who were affected know what a relief it is for this hotfix to be included.
