Seagate 1.5gb/s or 3.0gb/s jumper setting
By default your Seagate hard drive will come with a jumper on the 1.5gb/s setting. Seagate ships this with their drive by default and uses this setting for hard drive diagnostics before sending to the market. If you have a SATAI (SATA1) then you can leave this jumper setting at 1.5gb/s but if you have a SATAII (SATA2) then you can remove the jumper to make the drive function at 3.0gb/s.
NOTES: make sure your motherboard supports SATA2 before making this adjustment. Most new motherboards do support SATA2 but it is always good to double check the Mother Board manual before adjusting any settings.
