Troubleshooting Windows Updates
Unfortunately updating Windows doesn’t always go as planned. This may help you troubleshoot your Windows update woes.
As we are all very aware, it is very important to update your Windows installation regularly. However, there may be times when we run into issues with updating windows. In many cases a computer will not access the windows update site at all, and in some cases a particular update may fail to download or install. Regardless of your problem, it is always a good idea to examine the Windows Update log file stored on your computer.
The Windows update log file can be found at %systemroot%WindowsUpdate.log and contains all the information related to the updating of your computer. This log file will also contain any pertinent information for those of you connecting to a SUS or WSUS server for updates. Starting here should lead you down the right path towards troubleshooting your Windows update problems.
