Turn off user account control
VISTA: Turning off User Account Control
Having to constantly verify that you want to do something gets annoying. In Windows Vista, there is a method to turn off that never-ending line of “Are you sure?” prompts. Steps 1-4 turn the prompting off, and steps 5-7 remove the warning that is displayed once UAC has been disabled.
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Type “user account” in the search box.
3. Uncheck the box next to “Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off”.
4. Reboot the computer. A red security x will appear in the task bar.
5. Open the Control Panel.
6. Click “Change the way Security Center alerts me”.
7. Select “Don’t notify me and don’t display the icon (not recommended)”.
