Want users in your company to follow the security policies and practices you lay down?

Want users in your company to follow the security policies and practices you lay down? Be an example to them by following these same policies yourself. For example, never browse the web or check email using your administrator account, use an ordinary user account instead. Change your password as frequently as ordinary users have to do the same. And so on.

Not only will your users respect you (and the policies you preach to them) if you do this, but you’ll also discover firsthand which policies are silly or unrealistic or too difficult to comply with and thus head off user complaints about the same. Smart move!
