How to troubleshoot an “invalid partition table” error

Boot failures can be hard to troubleshoot. One particularly misleading error message you might see is “Invalid partition table—a disk read error occurred.” This usually doesn’t mean your partition table is corrupted however, what it usually means in fact is that you’ve installed a new disk into your system and its configuration isn’t correct for your type of system. Usually removing the problem disk will resolve the issue.
