Block Incoming Internet Mail to Specific Users or Groups

Blocking Incoming Internet Mail in Exchange 2003
This may be especially relevant when it comes to blocking all incoming Internet mail traffic to an individual user or group.

Previous resolutions would have required the setting up of a false email address that made use of non-resolvable SMTP domain name. This though is no longer necessary with Exchange Server 2003, as it is now possible to block traffic to user by only allowing mail to be accepted from authentic users.

For a particular group the process requires navigation through Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers. Then right click onto the Distribution Group and then Properties, on the Exchange General tab, select “From Authenticated Users Only” from the Message Restrictions section.

For a particular user the process requires navigation through Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers. Then right click onto the User Account and then Properties, on the Exchange General tab, select “From Delivery Restrictions” and then Message Restrictions section and “From Authenticated Users Only”.

Both processes will ensure only authenticated mail is delivered.
